Craft Kit Review-Dimensions Fox Needle Felting Kit

This kit is an easy way to learn try needle felting before spending a lot of money. It includes clear instructions with easy to achieve results.

I bought this needle felting kit from Michael’s, they carry a few different versions including a llama and a flamingo.  I love all the things you can do with needle felting so I thought I would try my hand at it.  This was another project that I worked on at work over my lunch break so it took quite awhile to finish.  I could probably have done it in a weekend if I had tried.

Needle Felting Kit Review

The Dimensions needle felting kits are designed to teach a beginner how to needle felt.  They have great step by step instructions with pictures and templates to help you get the correct shape.  You can use the tools again but you would need to buy more felt so I can’t say that it has a lot of replay ability.

It comes with orange, white, and black felt in big blobs.  It also comes with black embroidery floss, needle, needle felting tool, and a foam block.  The block helps stop you from stabbing yourself.  I didn’t always use the block until I would stab myself, usually followed by grabbing the block.

As a beginner this is my only experience with needle felting but I thought it was a great introduction.  I ended up with a recognizable fox in the end.  It did look a little like an orange penguin, but for the most part you could tell it was a fox.  My cat didn’t mind at all.

You will need some patience for this project.  It takes quite awhile to get a recognizable shape.  Patience is a great personal quality that I do not possess in any form.  This was a hard project for me.  What it did do is show me that needle felting is not for me, something I appreciate.  This is a craft better left to people who don’t need to see instant results.

Crafting With Cats

I was so excited when I finally finished my project.  So, you can imagine how I felt when I came home one day to find that my cat had found my fox.  It is no longer recognizable as a fox but at least he enjoyed it.  I can’t blame him, it does look like a cat toy.  The most annoying part is that I didn’t take a picture of it before he got to it.

This is the only picture I have of the completed project.  The needle felting tool has disappeared as well so I couldn’t fix him before writing this post.  You’ll have to take my word for it that I actually did, at one point, have a completed fox.  I don’t think I will be adding needle felting to my skill set.
