Get Well Soon Lip Balm Holder Tutorial

This Get Well Soon lip balm holder is a great way to show someone you have been thinking about them while giving them a useful gift at the same time.

I bought the lip balm holder die set from Sizzix last year and came up with this great idea for a get well soon gift that I never got around to making.  I finally made it today and I think it turned out really cute.

This would be the perfect gift for a sick friend or family member to let them know you’ve been thinking about them.  From colds to hospital stays, Chapstick is nice to have around when you’re sick.

These are simple to make and can easily be customized for the person you are making it for and the materials you have on hand.  I talk about the materials I used below but you can easily switch them out for what you have handy.

Lip Balm Holder Instructions:

Stamped band aidsStart the project by stamping 4 Band-Aids on white paper.  I used the Get Well Soon Framelits set by Sizzix that set comes with two choices for the band aid texture.  Choose the one you like and use it to stamp your band aids.

Using the band aid die and your Sizzix machine cut your band aids out.

Once your band aids are ready, color them in with markers or colored pencils.  I use Memento Ink pads for stamps which work well with the Studio 71 alcohol markers that I use.

Stamped get well soon saying.Next, stamp your saying onto paper twice.   The saying I picked also came from the Get Well Soon Framelit die set. I used white paper and colored it later with the color I thought would match the card stock I picked.  You could also use a scrap of card stock.  If you use alcohol-based markers you’ll get a smooth look without the lines that normal markers leave when coloring large spaces.

Use the saying die that matches the one you stamped and your Sizzix machine to cut your sayings out.

Lip Balm Holder

Lip balm holder pieces.

I used the lip balm holder thinlits die set from Sizzix which comes with two dies to form the holder.  The slightly larger one is for the outside.  Card stock works best for this to give it a little more stability.  The smaller die is for the inside.  You can use scrapbook paper or card stock for the inside.

Cut the paper for both the inside and outside of your lip balm holder.  Fold each piece on the fold lines including the flaps on the inside where the Chapstick will go.  Use your tape roller or other adhesive to attach the two pieces together.

Decorate each side of the outside of your lip balm holder with the band aids and sayings that you made earlier.

Inside the lip balm holder.Put the lip balm inside the lip balm holder.  It should go through the loop on the inside and be held in place by the flaps on either side.  Thread ribbon through the holes at the top and tie a bow to secure it.

You now have a cute little Chapstick package ready to give to a friend.  My family likes to give these at Christmas as well, check out my Christmas Lip Balm Holder Tutorial for more ideas.

I would love to see how your project turns out.  Post pictures to Instagram
